colouring floorboards dark brown

Hey all

I am thinking ahead to one day when we get to do a grand renovation of our PPOR (such wishful thinking).

Anyway - I have seen a few properties in magazines with dark brown polished floorboards.

I think this is the start of a new trend and it looks really beautiful and sharp with white or ivory walls.

My question is how do you get the floorboards coloured dark brown - is there some kind of dark brown gloss that colours floorboards that are normally a lighter colour dark brown ?

Yes you can go darker. I was thinking of black, but there were too many termite holes and I would have had to replace too many floor boards. So tiled over it instead.
However, when I was researching the stain, I came across this as it was what I had intended using:

Hi
You will need to sand the boards back and can apply dark stain to them.
You are best to try on a sample board to be sure of the correct stain required.
