Getting winter weather and it's suppose to be summer

Merry wetmas every1 :)

This is a normal December - always a mixed bag until about mid Jan.

Then mostly "summer" weather from then until about mid March.

My view is that December is still pretty much Spring, but with a slight elevation of the overall temps from November.

Occasionally we'll get the odd heat wave before Mid Jan, but it's mostly one or two days of a low to mid 30's, then a crash back down to about 19 and rainy days from a cool Southerly change and that's it.

Last Thurs was a rare 40's day, then ripping Easterly on Fri heralded the cool change and the crap w/end we just had to follow - not one minute of Sun down our way for 2 days.

That is my experience of Melb summer since 1961 (actually about 1965 - don't remember much before about 4 years old..)

Nothing new here, folks.

I dunno BayView,

The weather this year is far from on par from the previous years.

I've been in melb for 10yrs and haven't seen it as cold as it is now.

Cheers Spades.

Whatever you reckon, then.

But consider this;

Last Thurs - 41 degrees in parts of Melb - very rare for this time of year from my experience.
Last Fri - 27 approx and cool change around 3.00pm.
Last Sat - Cloudy, rain at times and 21 degrees.
Last Sun - same as Sat.
Yesterday - same as Sat and Sun with sunny breaks in pm.
Today - cloudy and expected top of 21 approx. Currently wearing t-shirt at work. Nice temp.
Tomorrow - expected top of approx 30 degrees and sunny.

Well, technically in weather terms, it is springtime until the solstice.

I think it was the British Army that decided summer started on 1/12 so that they could have nice neat date to change to their summer uniforms.

I think that in the USA they still regard the 23/12 as the start of winter, not 1/12

Just got back to kz after a fantastic Japan holiday.

And walked straight into this...
