Dome Carport/Awning ?

Hi All,

Has anyone installed one of this Dome Type awning at the backyard before ?

I m thinking of installing one but don't know how much it would cost

compare to the gable type

I only can find Hicraft as the only company
in Sydney would do Dome Carport Do we have another company out there would do the same ?

Get them to do a quote.

I used Gemini Awnings http://www.geminiawnings.com.au/

about 7 years ago and it was $5-6K from memory but aluminium is a lot more expensive these days.

A standard colourbond thing for 2 cars would be cheaper........but steel is expensive these days too

how big was your awning ?
I have spoke to the Hicraft company
they told me the cost would be double of the gable type.

Ours was big enough for 4 cars - 2 across & 2 deep.

just got a quote this morning
for flat carport with two cars space (3.? x 9.5 m) + a small veranda at the front of the house
it costs 7k (without slab concrete) this is too much

He told me the price of the steel has gone up three times this year ..
has anyone done one lately ?

this is not very pretty , get a "good " handy man type person to give you alternatives. go thru youl local paper.

You could try stratco, they have several designs and use various installers.

They also supply the plans for the council.

If you are installing it on the back of the house and it's less than 20m2 in some councils you don't need council approval but you will need to use an installer and it will also need to have some engineering specification/approval.

I've gone for gable because it gives me a feeling of openness due to the extra height.
Cost and quality of workmanship vary greatly.
Check your local paper for installers.
Get many quotes and then make up a shortlist and ask to see some of their work.

3 years ago 2 gables mounted against my house (no posts) with an approx area of 20m2 costed me around $7K
My quotes varied from $6.5 to $15K
The one I chose was around $8K and I negotiated the price down
The most expensive one was no better than the one I used.

the cheapest quote around 5.5k around $ 110 - 120 per meter
3.5 x 9.5 + small veranda

Hircraft was the most expensive 9k
