For Apple users! How to connect via a irc client!

Just FYI - I made a slight edit to your post to put a more valid IRC server in there ... if you connect to irc.mibbit.net (rather than irc.uk.mibbit.net), it will automatically find you an appropriate IRC server to connect to.

Windows users - http://www.mirc.com/ is still the most widely used IRC client.

I haven't tried an IRC client on Android yet - can't make any recommendations there. These two seem to be the highest rated free apps in Google Play with the highest number of installs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.andchat and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androirc

As soon as Sim questions it, becomes a blow-off. I did see your post this a.m. as soon as it went up - and lucky I was only on my phone, because you would have got a fiery response from me.

What does it matter what I say or do? Just ignore me. Just because I haven't invested for umpteen years, or Im not a Doctor or a Physio, or cant instantly put a graph up of facts and figures, doesn't mean you can single me out. Don't get confused between personality and attitude. My personality is who I am, my attitude depends on who you are. You know, there are other people in there that I doubt wouldn't share the same view about me, or anyone else chatting.

I contribute to the forum and the chatroom in the capacity that my knowledge allows in all works of life including property. I will also continue to be loud and proud of who I am.

Im disappointed in you Cliff. I read what you had to say with interest all over the course of the forum, but now that will all be read with question and doubt.

Re The server i quoted. I used this as the irc.mibbit.net will not work in the various clients i tested this morning. Only irc.uk.mibbit.net will work. This is what i am using on my iphone so i know it is tried and tested.

You may need to put it back in?!?!..

Thanks - a bit strange that ... irc.mibbit.net is supposed to redirect you automatically to one of the others servers (eg irc.uk.mibbit.net) ... not sure why it wouldn't work.

I've changed your post back for now ... will investigate further.

Any chance of having it show somewhere on the screen how many active people are in the chatroom when browsing the forum? For example in the top right section have:

Private Messages: Unread 0, Total 48.
10 people in the chatroom.

Might drum up some more interest?

We did have this functionality in the past ... would actually tell you who was in the chatroom too.

Unfortunately, the server we ran that chatroom on died (with no valid backups!), and the people who operated that server decided not to rebuild or replace it.

However, on the new chatroom, we do have limited access to chat data I can use to make a simple tool to display this ... I've done it already on ZooChat.

I'll add it to my To-Do list for Somersoft as well.
