Picket Fence Letterboxes

Bought one of these in bunnings as the old wooden one is rotting away, funny thing is it didn't come with any fixings, its the same size/shape as the other one and fits in between 2 palings that are cut but its a bit loose and could just fallout,

Calling all DIY experts here, what do i need to fix it to the fence properly.

its a powder coated metal picket fence letterbox with brass surrounds and hole for papers etc.

so i guess i need some sort of fixing that fixes metal to wood? any ideas folks?

Hi

Last month we completed a pile of contracts for Goverment housing.
Each house required a new letter box , so of course we purchased cheap powder coated boxes.
Problem we found when unwrapping them the lid actually did not flip up.
We were required to manufacture some angle brackets to attach.

Does your letter box flip open from top or is it a rear door entry?

muffinman,

its a rear entry type, there's a brass handle on the back it flips up but entry is via the rear.

see attached image of letterbox

Go to bunnings and look for the brackets section.
You can get all sorts of fancy ones which you screw to the fence post and have the other bit bolted under your letterbox. Get a nice wide type for extra support to the letterbox.
