Power Pole In Front of the House

Could you please help me identify the gray box on the power pole on the picture below. Is it something to do with smart meters or it's a kind of power transformer.

Does this sort of device pose any health risk to people living nearby?

Saw an ad for either TT or ACA where the pole was in the middle of the driveway, and it wasn't this house. My mind boggles at the fact that it's happened more than once.

It's a pole mounted distribution transformer. I don't believe it carries any increase in health risks than a normal pole.

It's a transformer. They are necessary to deliver electricity to your home.

Like every electrical device, they do emit electro-magnetic radiation, but its minimal beyond a metre or two due to the inverse square law. You're more at risk from your microwave oven or mobile phone.
