I was simply pointing out his lack of financial intelligence, and how prevalent it is in our society.

I agree.

One other thing that I hate is when young people's financial intelligence or willpower to save money is questioned. Not all of us are big spenders. I'm young (23) & have always held at least 2 casual jobs since 1st year uni... and now I have a 20% deposit for a decent-sized house in Sydney...

"Financial intelligence" isn't all that hard: work hard, get paid, invest your money wisely (don't just leave it lying around in a 0.0% interest bearing account), and cut your expenditure!!
