personally i have no sympathy for managing agents, but of course this will end up being another impost on property investors.

Would it really be too much to ask for some of these tenants to learn what the word ... "save" means!

More and more i'm really seeing a problem with the average australians mindset.

it means pm's will increase the % they charge .... above what they earn't before from the letting fee of course ....

And I'm going to increase my rent by 5% to compensate. Brilliant plan, o government Einsteins! They just don't get that you have to solve this on the supply side. You can't just put in regulations that have no impact on supply and demand. Either put in New York style rent control (and watch property prices plummet as landlords sell out), lower council taxes on new developments (and watch property prices plummet as lower prices for new homes drag down prices for existing homes) or give better incentives to landlords (and watch the brouhaha get worse).

The govt is just putting in these cosmetic things because it knows since 60 or 70% own their own homes they're not going to be happy voters if the govt crashes the property market!
