Reason i asked as my mother passed away 2mnths + ago.
My brother opted for a solicitor as the bank was asking for a seal of administration plus something else to release funds.
This was more of a ? to forward onto my greedy sister as she said the funds were wasted on a solicitor.

If there was a will then you would have to apply for probate at the Supreme Court. Not really hard to do, just need to fill in a few forms and affidavits, advertise the fact you are applying for probate etc.
