What are you going to import now with USD @ 1.09?

Can you use the US KitchenAids here? I'm looking on ebay & Amazon and they're sooo cheap, more than half price! But Australia has a different voltage to the US?

In short, yes.

We bought one last year while we were visiting the US... then went straight into an electronics store and bought a converter ($40) ... a simple adapter will not work as the motor will operate at ~ twice the speed due to the voltage/amperage difference and burn out as a result.

After all of that, we are very happy with the purchase.... it works well.

just have to think and add the sums up, put in a bit of effort and you can pay your mortgage off quicker.

so much easier than just watching telly.

you think? my initial reaction was that it's a lot of stuffing around and risk for $5k, but I guess if you know what you're doing and it's a bit of a hobby...
