Demographic info

Hi all,

I've thinking about likely major demographic changes to Australian society of late and how that may impact on the property market.

I was wondering what people think is/are good statistical and analytical info regarding demographic trends. e.g. ABS, private research houses etc. Does anyone use this sort of info to inform their "big picture" and if so, how reliable do you find it?

Obviously one can't predict the future but I find this sort of thing is at least worth thinking about.

I believe your "Smart" Real estate Agents are the best and the cheapest sources of demographics changes.

They are more atuned to the local issues and can tell you what is flavour of the day....

Find a couple of good ones and stick with em...

I was looking for the same thing a while ago, and came across the Illawarra Research Institute which provided me with all the demographic info I needed, which was free.

I would suggest that each region had it's own research body like that, start with the ABS and they'll be able to guide you.
