Half hour to go now

Well I know that the image company put not hurry into getting the reports out. Anyhow I just picked them up from my doctor. Im certainly a VERY happy little chappy tonight. The scan has come back clear. Thats a huge relief. I know the odds of it being very bad news are slim but still bloody nervous waiting for the all clear I must admit.

Anyhow the constant headache is still an obvious issue that I need to get sorted asap as it is super draining having this all day everyday but still a big relief the scan was all clear.

Taking the lovely wife out for a nice meal at our favourite water front restaurant tonight so that should relax me a little. :)

Thanks for all the positive comments. Wasnt trying to post a sympathy thread but I was just getting really nervous before the scan on the other day and the positive posts certainly gave me some comfort that it didnt necessarily mean it was terrible news so thanks for that ;)

Cheers Jayro! :)

Excellent news. How about you book a head massage while you think about the next step? Maybe a total massage just in case you are also carry the stress in your shoulders, back etc.

Take care, enjoy your night out:)

it could be something as simple as a food allergy/intolarence.

our 2nd eldest has had major migraine headaches for years with no tracable cause, until she went on a dairy free diet - huge difference - nay a migraine since.

you have an earth rod on your garden tap for a reason.

Yep, In case of electrical failure inside or outside the premises.
Sydney Water Fact Sheet

I've never heard of 'putting the charge' back into water.
Without doing any research of my own, It sounds awfully like the crap multi level marketing companies come up with to sell their product, although there's no product to sell pouring water.

not many people have. just because you haven't heard of it, doesn't make it a fallacy.

if you want more info, like i said, PM me to keep the thread free.

good to hear Jayro.

try eliminating one food a week, while drinking lots of water, to see which food may cause an allergy.

so one week don;t have wheat, next week, no dairy, next week, no acidic fruit, next week etc etc.

Hi Jayro,

Just a thought...my husband grinds his teeth horribly during the night (enough to wake me up), which results in headaches, sore jaw and facial muscles etc - the general consesus seems to be that teeth grinding/clenching (bruxism) is often caused by stress. Do you grind your teeth at night? Ask your wife!!

I am a tooth grinder as well, discovered that I do it when I was about 23. Now at 48 I am trying hypnotherapy again. I have tried it before, and I think it did help, but certainly didn't stop me grinding. My teeth have really suffered, not to look at them, but structurally they are much weaker than they should be.

Your dentist would most likely have told you if you are a long term grinder.

I have always had a lot of headaches. Apart from jaw pain and headaches, I went for a while to an accupuncturist. He made such a difference, and my headaches became much less common while I continued to see him once every month or six weeks.

I also find that seeing my chiropractor every month or six weeks helps with my stress that I tend to hold in my upper shoulders near my neck, which I believe causes some of my headaches.

I sound like I am falling apart :)

Maybe give that a try.

i'm a grinder to - but instead of headaches it makes my teeth pain and jaw ache. the dentist did grind down a couple of tops to stop them catching but, as wylie said, the grinding has weakened the tooth structure - will pay for it in later life.

i'm also a talker. like a real chat chat chat talker. no secrets in our house!

agree with the food suggestion - but perhaps take two weeks with each food type, to get a full flush of the system.

I was a grinder and my teeth were wearing down quickly. My holistic dentist made a molded cover to put on my bottom teeth at night to reprogram the jaw out of grinding. I only had to wear it for 6mths or so.

Glad to hear all's well with the scan Jayro. Best of luck with the headache problems.

I got an NTI splint. It didn't stop my headaches, but it has stopped me from grinding so hard that I cause my teeth to structurally fail (as happened last year). It's really quite comfortable and no big deal to get made; mine was done as I waited.

I went down the splint track several years ago, but found I just couldn't sleep in it. It annoyed me so much. I have since tried the much softer splint made when I had my teeth whitened and I can tolerate it, however, I really want to stop the grinding rather than have to wear a splint for the rest of my life.

Have those of you who have used a splint found that wearing it changes your grinding habit, or just protects your teeth?

Thanks everyone for the wishes. Certainly is appreciated.

Ah yeh, a great feed was had last night thats for sure :D Had been a while so a nice treat at a flashy restaurant is one our favourite things to do so it was a nice night indeed.

Cant believe there are sooo many grinders on here ;) I didnt realise it was so common. Ah, as to wether I do or dont im not sure to be honest. I will ask the wife tonight. I have found the last week or so im getting cramps in my cheeks (might sound stupid I know) but its the feeling you get when you have been smiling and laughing for hrs. The dr said it really is more than likely a tooth issue or a neck issue.

I do see a chiro regularly and have a visit tomorrow morning at 9.30am. I had ruled out the neck this time as it wasnt too long ago that I had my last adjustment but I guess it certainly could be the prob. SO my 1st step is chiro tomorrow morning at 9.30am

As for a dentist....... Bit ashamed to say but Iv never really been a fan and visit will not result in any great news for me I dont think so iv been avoiding him for yrs now  I do keep them clean obviously but I know I REALLY should see the dentist. I wasnt aware so many things could contribute to a headache. Good to know now.

As for the diet, I actually do eat very well and have done for the last 2 yrs now. Pritty well only drink water (and I do love coffee but always have) and food is pritty well always home cooked meals, with fresh vegies/salad etc. A meal out is generally a nice place with a good quality meal. BUT if the other options fail then I'll certainly look at some diet options also.

Cheers Jas!

I remember about 10 years ago I went to a naturopath for my headaches and did an elimination diet. I'd put it off for years because I was terrified he'd tell me that my favourite foods were the culprits. We cut out everything except rice and pears - apparently very unlikely triggers - and I still had bad headaches, so he concluded it wasn't dietary. I was so bloody relieved! :D

Before going for the total elimination, he'd tried eliminating a couple of likely triggers - wheat, dairy - and neither of those worked. I was so glad it wasn't the wheat - the only bread available at that time was just disgusting, though I believe there are a lot more and better gluten-free options now.

Definitely has for me Wylie - but suddenly talking about teeth has made one of my bloody fillings drop out over lunch today!

I'd been having such a good break from the dreaded dentists chair too.

I'd be biting the bullet and going for a dental check and mentioning the cramps.

Just hope it doesn't lead to lockjaw. That's one of the most uncomfortable feelings around. Especially when you're half way through a nice meal.

Couldn't imagine having to endure lockjaw on top of a migraine.

headaches

I was a headache sufferer for years and went through the CT scan saga to rule out tumors, sinus issues etc with nothing showing up at all.

I was a regular pain killer user and every day that I woke up without a headache was a bonus - the headaches were that common.

No doctor seemed to be able to help.

Well I visit a dentist every six months and I had just moved house and changed dentists. The first thing the new dentist asked me was whether or not I ground my teeth during the night as I was showing signs that I did.
I had no idea if I did or didn't.

He asked me if I ever work up with headaches. YES I DO!!! - he certainly had my attention now.

He told me how teeth grinding at night creates tension in the jaw and neck and often leads to headaches.
I got a "night guard" made up and my headaches literally disappeared over night.
My previous dentist had mentioned the tooth wear but he linked it to drinking soft drinks and told me to drink less diet coke. Not a word about grinding or headaches.

After this I did still get the occasional headache combined with a "knot" in the back of my neck though. A work mate suggested I see a chiropractor which I did.
On the first visit she "cracked" my neck and the knot relaxed immediately.

I now visit the chiro about every eight weeks and I know it is time for a visit when I start getting headaches and the knot in the neck.

It was interesting to note that the headaches caused by teeth grinding and by the dodgy neck were completely different types of headaches.

I have also just gone through the CT scan saga again as a routine health checkup and blood test showed some very surprising results.

The doctor was pretty straight forward and told me the blood test showed that my body was exhibiting signs consistent with reacting to a tumor and he suspected it was in my biliary system based on my subsequent liver function test results. He said it probably wasn't a tumor but he needed to rule it out first.

Well CT scans of my liver, gall bladder and kidneys proved to be fine.

Unfortunately a little more investigation and further scans did turn up some bad news and a specific blood test to confirm this was also not good news so I'm off to the specialist on Tuesday for a consultation with a possible biopsy on the agenda.

Not looking forward to this but the odds are in my favour. It still could turn out to be a false alarm as it is not common in men under 50 and I'm only 40, although my doctor was thoughtful enough to tell me his youngest patient with the condition was only 29 and things did not go at all well for him (deceased!!). Gee, thanks Doc!!! Just what I was hoping to hear.

No point worrying though until the specialist has had his little look and see - I've got better things to do. Fingers crossed. :)

Check out your coffee Jayro. I found the Arabaca Bean coffee's gave me a massive migrane. It took a while to figure out but thats all it was.

Best of luck Jayro and Darren1968 hope all is well for you both.

Bugger me. The more I read this thread the more its looking like I need a dentist, lol. Its always been a thing where my jaw partially locks up. I can not eat chewing gum or chewy lollies etc. And recently my Jaw actually clunks pritty bad as I chew. I can even just sit here now and clunk my jaw left to right. Hmmmmm ok, well im off to chiro now then maybe I think I need the dentist appointment next.

All the best for you Darren. Hope it all works out well for you :)

cheers Jas!

Definitely sounds like grinding associated to me. I have clicks in my jaws as well.

My chiropractor has at times gloved up and put one hand in my mouth while manipulating my jaw. I also had a physio try gloving up and manipulating my jaw and she gave me mouth exercises to try to get my jaw opening in a better alignment.

Now, apart from sounding like I am falling apart, I also imagine people are thinking I must look like Quasimodo!!

There are also "chiropractic dentists" but I haven't tried one yet.
