Replace clever with sneaky and you're getting close. He's roughly half as clever as Bob Carr.

Carr has only been in office a few weeks and he as made more gaffs than Abbott ever has. It's clear you don't know what you are talking about.

lol you people are funny to watch

Labor states and National was in the pocket of big biz as was little Johhny boy.
As was Sir Jo and his rednecks.
The current labor problems are lack of talent, it has nothing to do with ideals which are used by both sides to wipe their hinds.
Katter is a redneck, but in a state that elected Sir Jo and didn't want day light saving cause a longer day faded their curtains anything is possible...

imho, the Qld election result was fueled by:
- Labor playing the electorate for fools in regards to Craig Thomson
- Govt interference with the operation of the Wivenhoe Dam
- Labor's economic stimulus waste
- Labor's expensive mismanagement of Border Protection.
- Labor's expensive screw up over the Traveston Dam.
- The unskilled and casually employed are doing it tough, and Labor are running around oblivious to that, and talking up a big Australia.
- There's been a credit squeeze pretty much since GFC, and Labor are copping the blame for it...and the stock market is where it was 7 years ago.
- housing is unaffordable for many, rents are rising, power is rising, but Labor still carry on as if no one is hurting.
- Anna Bligh cooked herself to death. Every night she'd have her mug on tele and a string of hackneyed cliches would role off her tongue, and change nothing in the lives of ordinary Qld'ers. Talk talk talk....money got spent, and nothing good or lasting came out of it.

Apart from the dam and your last reason these are all federal issues. If you listen to the pollies the reason Bligh was booted out was for state issues only. (personally I agree with you and don't believe a word of it)

I think that at long last, the masses are waking up to the fact that labour govts are wasting huge amounts of borrowed money on useless crap, and not making the necessary tough choices/cuts. Our kids will be burdened by this labour debt for decades to come and the voters wont stand for it anymore. They are vry angry. Bring on the federal election.

Well

off of the top of myhead there is also the......
Desalination plant and the defects that went with it and its eventual mothballing
QLD Health payroll debacle
QLD Health stolen funds
QLD Health waiting lists
QLD Health deaths
Not firing the minister for QLD Health after all of the above
Inceased traffic conjestion and the lack of government solutions (Campbells tunnel didnt work the best but at least 1) he was doing something and 2) organized it that it was a private company that ate the loss not the government)
Lack of quality port facilities

In general everything seems to be getting worse with no real leadership and goals to fix these problems. There just doesnt seem to be any real structured plans for how labor were going to improve QLD. Maybe they had plans but they wernt telling anyone :)

Only an idiot votes for federal issues at a state level.

Ideo, you really need to look after your own backyard before calling people idiots.

Recently, you publicly admitted you lived in the Federal seat of Warringah, Tony Abbott's federal seat, in which you wasted your vote by voting for the former rough comedian Austen Tayshus who was representing the Sex Party of Australia.

Seriously, as pointed out to you back then, you lost all credibility.

After doing that and then calling other people idiots for how they vote, you really don't have a leg to stand on.

-------

As for the policies between parties, at either a state or federal level, you'll note they are very similar. It would seem entirely consistent to vote for the party that suits your ideals and aspirations and beliefs. With those ideals and aspirations and beliefs being identical between the State branch and the Federal branch of each party, it seems incredulous that someone could suggest that people would flip from one side to the other.

Federal Labor and the Federal Greens have been put on notice with 3 state elections now.....the majority...not all....of the Australian public don't like their ideals and aspirations and beliefs they put forward.

Anyone who believes the recent Vic / NSW / Qld state election results have no implications for the Federal Govt are backing the wrong horse.

Happy days !!! What a marvellous weekend. :)

I dont know much about QLD, but I just had to put in a vote for QLD Health in how they manage funding of disability equipment... You have the most efficient and well run funding for disability equipment in Australia (for wheelchairs and that sort of stuff).

It has really improved in the past 10-15 years, and is light years ahead of other states (with the possible exception of WA)...... I guess it doesnt necessarily mean its brilliant, the other states are just so far behind!!!!!!!!!

I dont think there is any more or less budget per capita, just much better administered, and as a result people get better and faster assistance. I hope it doesnt change too much with the new govt........ so, at least the Labor govt had one bright area! :)

Hey dazz. You are assuming I give a single iota what you think.

Let me rephrase. To vote on federal issues at a state level is misguided at best.

However, unlike some conservative fan boys on here I will allow you to vote for whoever you want because I respect the fundamentals of democracy.

That clear enough for you? You can't stifle debate. You have no real say. In the scheme of things you, just like me, are meaningless.

I know he's a very formidable politician. Tony rabbit will ave hs work cut out with Carr.

He as made one big mouth statement, re PNG. Tony makes roughly one per week. The latest beauty about the pm going to QLD with a target on er forehead and QLDers hitting her there with a baseball bat.

What a goose. Is this our maybe future leader? Can you imagine the leader of any other country saying the things Abbot does? Dead set fool.

Very formidable, he screwed up NSW good and proper. So passing on condolences to the "parents" of an orphaned Brazilian man is not a gaff in your book. The **** then tries to defend himself for not knowing that the parents of the dead man were also dead. And don't get me going on that bogan Gillard and the lies and crap that comes out of her mouth.

He also got the month wrong for the Sydney olympics during his maiden speech ... apparently he was there hobnobbing with bigwigs (according to Bob), but maybe the rarified air was affecting his memory.

As for voters, voting on federal issues as part of a State election? Of course they do. They always do. It is the only power the people have to tell the parties they they are peeved off with what is happening.

Many people also don't distinguish between the States and Federal - see them in cohorts with each other - and how many can name their state and federal representatives, and get them in the right order? I may be logically wrong - but it is how it is.

However, if Labor was doing brilliantly on the State level then the effect would be minimised.

It's not really just Qld labor, or NSW labor that are in trouble. It is the labor model that is broken.

Their "working class" demographic is shrinking. That is splitting into an aspirational class that is well paid and doesn't need a union, and a rump that doesn't have a computer and needs someone to hold their hands.

Labor cheerfully witnessed the demise of the country party as rural Australia downsized it's workforce and abandoned the centres of business which serviced them. Those people had to settle into the liberals where they still held the ear of the leaders but their proposals were much more critically examined and had to meet the requirements of the broad population.

Labor is dead as a standalone party. They must split: The watermelons to join the greens in a socialist alliance and the moderates to the Australia Party [The "K" will be dropped] in a centrist party which will keep the b******s honest.

It sounds amazingly similar to the current Liberal party, who are absolutely irrelevant without the Nationals.

He is a very formidable politician, as Tony et al will find out soon enough.

If all you have is a slip up re the Brazillian guy you're really clutching at straws. Its minuscule compared the the absolute rubbish that comes out of the opposition leaders mouth, and has for years.

Don't forget, the tool (known commonly as the mad monk) is in OPPOSITION and the election is a long way off. I don't discount Labor winning at all.

By the way, whatever happened to extreme right wing christian Tony? Whatever happened to the NO NO NO man? Who do have now, the orange vest and helmet clown Tony? The man is a total embarrassment.

I cringe at the thought of that goose running our country, almost as bad as little, liar Johnny.
