Anyone from the Newcastle area have an opinion of buying IPs in this area at the moment? Rental Yield? Future cap. growth?

Don't know much rental return etc is for area but we were looking around up there 2 weeks ago and called in at the New AV JENNINGS estate and found out it sold out with in 4 days of being released in june this year. Didn't know the demand was so high up there!!

This weeks paper had an article about it being one of the growth areas in the Hunter Valley.

Land is scarce all around here at the moment and good stuff sells out quickly.

G'day Brains
I lived in Newcastle and worked on the RAAF Base at Williamtown for a several years back in the late 70s. Raymond Terrace and Medowie supported most of the married personnel from the base. Is it still that way or does the base still exist for that matter?
A housemate at the time bought 2 blocks over looking the water out in one of the bays. I remember he paid $12,000 for each then and we thought he was crazy.
Now it seems he was a lot smarter than we knew. How well has he done?
