Seen any great movies lately

It was a month ago or so......

But Pacific Rim was pretty Awesome to see at the Cinemas.

Almost like Transformers Vs Godzilla. :D

Cheers,

Saw the second Hobbit movie on Boxing Day. As usual, fabulous creatures, amazing backdrop scenery, awesome PC wizardry to make dwarfs, dragons etc. I love all that sort of stuff.

Saw Philomena yesterday. Absolutely fabulous movie, Judi Dench of course was fabulous but Steve Coogan in the role of the guy who helps her was outstanding. The subtle facial expressions that go across his face was indicative of the acting you see in the old black and white movies. The old days were certainly hard and bitter

Plan to see this soon, read some great reviews.

My family really enjoyed Philomena. I was too busy studying.

It was an interesting response I heard about from the church. They said they didn't sell the babies, they merely accepted very large donations.

Went and saw "TheBookThief" last night it was a very good film, also saw "SavingMrBanks" if WaltDisney was like that in real life then I think anyone can learn a lot from that movie,TheBookThief is a rather sad movie if your bloodlines started in Germany..

I saw the Kindle book of the Book Thief on special on Amazon yesterday. It was a monthly special, listed at $4.99. I clicked on it- and it told me the price was $12.99.

That is the difference between buying online stuff in Australia. However, I was logged on, and I should not have been shown the $4.99 price tag. They're probably not even subject to consumer laws for misleading advertising.

Not sure on the price factor Geoff,i buy most of my books second-hand,but I intend to go out today in the city and buy what ever books I can on WaltDisney, and study the "Man",i think I can learn a lot from a mindset like that..

I remember reading his boigraphy years ago. The things which sttod out were that he was not a good person to work for, and he was mortified of death. I seem to remember that he wanted to be cryogenically stored, but he was cremated.

As far as books- I have bookshelves piled with the books I can't bear to give away- and I have given away quite a few carloads. I prefer to read electronically these days- when I have time to read anyway. I can get books quickly, and I've been able to get some books which I've not been able to find here. Many times I just want a good read, and I can find a lot of good reads for a few dollars each- older books for free.

The book I referred to was an electronic download, so there's not really a valid reason for charging $US4.99 for US customers and $AU12.99 for Australian customers.

As a concerned parent it's unfortunate that some IMDB links can be made but those written by concerned parents to help advise other parents of adult content in movies are deleted. I think it would be good if we could help parents here decide whether to allow our kids to see a movie but it seems the audience here is very conservative.

Maybe you can link to a site which hosts the contentious feedback/reviews?

I don't think it was really necessary to post details of every sexual activity shown in the movie- and then when that was deleted to post a link to somewhere else which detailed the same. Isn't it enough, as a concerned parent, to say that it's absolutely unsuitable for kids? Any more than that and it would appear that the post is for prurient interest.

We have had 14yo kids on the forum. We like to keep the forum family friendly enough so that any parent would be happy to have their 14yo to be reading.

Watched 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' the other week.

Wasn't the best movie I've seen but was entertaining and worth watching.

I would recommended seeing it.

It's been a few years now but I really enjoyed Gran Torino . A great mans movie I reckon .

I'm camping down at Warrnambool at the moment and we went in to the cinema to escape the heat more than anything yesterday and started watching Anchor Man 2 . Well , what a crock . I saw about 20 minutes and walked out and asked for my money back , which they did . I'm getting grumpier as I age :D
