Has anyone used a virtual assistant or virtual personal assistant to assist there small business ventures? If so, do you have any comments on the service and value for money you received?

Any recommendations?

I'm looking at using one to take some tasks off my plate.

Preferably. My experience with offshore outsourcing has been less than favourable in service industries..

Fair enough - if doing customer contact and such, onshore is probably better anyway.

and what exactly can they do for you?

I certainly wouldnt want someone with a strong accent calling my customers in some industries

- call customers
- set up appointments
- make travel bookings - airline and hotel reservations
- type reports
- organise business cards
- organise events
- compile brochures / mail these out
- organise quotes for a variety of things
- help with social media / set up FB page
