    replacing doors

Laundry Doors Laundry doors in our residential home swelled in rain, despite that I took them off and sealed top and bottom. (took 4 years for damage to appear, but doors are bit thicker and despite re-sealing it again, I suspect it will keep getting worse with every heavy rain and western...

Gas hot water - storage vs instantaneous?

35 metres hole looks not too expensive. Is it possible to hire drilling equipment and do it yourself, or better leave it to professionals? Also all this pipes installation and connection better be done by experts or handyman will be good enough?

Gas hot water - storage vs instantaneous?

Payback period might be quite long. Drilling 200m hole would not come cheap.

Cost of putting in a retaining wall

Almost all retainng walls eventually start to topple over, suppose 15 cm one might be an exception. But why not slope as better option? Water goes away, no additional edges to trim if grass planted, no problems with wall moving.

    Stormwater pipes

I've seen fellows digging under 3 m driveway about half from either side. The only problem they said is backfilling well after new pipe is put in this way.

    Kitchen bench top re-surfacing

I have bench tops in good condition but just the surface. Almost everything seems to stain it. Even rubbing with just a wet cloth seems to rub off a little bit of laminate making it slightly lighter than the rest. Wander if there is some kind of paint that could be applied? Heard of...

    Going solar

    Renos and traps

I always thought that to change light globe is no big deal. Was told that in NSW it has to be done by licensed electrician. Always took it as kind of a joke, not so sure now!

    Thermal insulation retrofitter

Harb, Thanks a lot, and appreciate your help. I know that grand improvements make big differences, but little things can make some difference too. Few years old place unfortunately doesn’t qualify to replace existing windows with double glazed. But anybody who has to replace windows...
