The Biggest Tax EVER in Australia

Are you saying the Labor party is responsible for some people doing it tough?

We are better off post GFC than just about every other nation because of the Labor party.

When does this Liberal rubbish end?

:D :D Hehehe....I'm gonna frame that....great stuff. :D :D

yup, we're better off by 2million plasmas...at least.

in fact, what I just don't get is if Labor are so economically astute, and care about equal opportunity, etc etc, why don't they stop selling mining licenses to the Chinese, and develop the mines themselves....in addition to buying back all the public assets they ran at a loss.

Oh look, it's the law! :)

And yet the world still turns, who'd have thunk it?

Turn it up....it's not imposed upon the public and doesn't start taking effect until July 1 next year....

Come back in late 2013 when it's been in for a year and a bit and you might see something worth bleating about.

How ironic....

The world will keep turning, regardless of the Tax or not....guaranteed.

It is for that very reason, that the Tax is a nonsense and should be scrapped.

The best thing by late 2013.....families won't need to rely on Labor controlled left leaning Govt Depts for any estimates on what the real economic impact of the Tax will be.....$ 2 or $ 3 a week my foot, they'll have felt the real pain out in this dog eat dog world.

Of course, Swanny will slopey shoulder that onto Greece / Europe / Banks anywhere he can, other than with Labor policy.

We'll get fluffy pictures of well heeled Green voters paying $ 30,000 for a bank of solar cells to reduce their $ 80 quarterly power bill and earn $ 1.70 per week pumping surplus back into the grid.....closely hugging in front of their cells, just weeks before a hail storm comes and smashes the lot.

Fortunately by then, the clear majority of the Aussie population will see it for what it really is. Green led socialist waffle. We'll actually have a chance to vote on it, and it will be a thumping destruction of both the Green party and the Labor party.

They'll be banished to the political wilderness, like they were in NSW, like they were in Vic, like they were in WA, like they are gonna be in Qld.

Then, and only then, we can start the long and painful process of undoing it all and make it NOT law.

.....Seabreeze....hmmmm - I smell Hi Equity in the wind.

I thought you gave up on all that girly melodrama Dazz. Unless Tony Abbott has taken over your forum profile.

well, may be time for a new thread about the next big Labor tax (you see this one wasn't enough)......and that is 12% superannuation contributions. Yup, the govt thinks you are 33% more stupid than last year, so they are going to take that much more of your money and give to smarter people to invest in shares, on your behalf of course, minus the usual fees.

It's a common reaction when you lose. And in this case there's next to no hope of getting a repeal through the Senate for a couple of parliaments. By which time the scare campaign will have been revealed for what it is.

And what possible relevance is a carbon price to solar panels? The policies that supported solar panels are completely different and their demise is welcome.

BTW who's Hi Equity? I'm just an single mum from Burnie who's trying to improve her lot in life...

Yes you're one of the people who is meant to be 'better off' under the Treasury's modelling. The same Treasury that forecast a surplus for this government after spending billions on this, that and everything. Funny how people put blind faith in made-up numbers that are constantly wrong...

Except of course, that this is a policy that Tony Abbott also supports, just like he supports a 5% reduction in GHG emissions by 2020. Maybe Katter's Australia party would be an option for your vote at the next election if you don't like it?

BTW, I actually agree with you - I find income management (aka superannuation) to be a way of punishing the responsible for the behaviour of the irresponsible. I wish it wasn't necessary but the number of people irresponsible enough to not save for their own retirement is legion, so I don't know of a better alternative, if we're not going to go down the sovereign wealth fund path funded by mining royalties. Especially as I'm not keen to see the elderly begging in the streets when govt can no longer afford to pay their pensions...

Not to mention the fact they're hail proof and they do make economic sense for a residential or a commercial installation.

But we have never let the facts get in the way of some good old fashioned Liberal scare mongering melodrama. Whys start now.

this is a really sad day. The damage this tax will inflict on the economy will take years to unwind, if it is even possible to do so.

Agreed....we lost this one. The pound of flesh extracted by Bob Brown for lying down with the dogs. The 13% who vote for the Greens pushed thru a major Tax reform that 87% of the population didn't vote for. Not democratic.

Doesn't mean the majority have to cop it lying down. We were all (149 out of 150 seats, Melbourne electorate excepted) lied to just prior to the last time we actually got to have a say on this Tax....but I'm supremely confident that majority of the Aussie population won't be hoodwinked again for quite a while.

Don't need all to agree - just the majority.

We are clearly seeing the results coming thru with the state elections, and we'll see it Federally next time. 16 seats was a huge amount of ground to make up, just couldn't quite get there....Kevin's lead established in 2007 was just too big.

Hah...the whole Tax is built upon a scare campaign.

Fortunately, I do not share your pessimistic opinion of the future. This will be the bedrock policy on what the thumping mandate to govern shall be established on. No compromise with minorites necessary. Look out any party who tries to stop the repeal process.

Double dissolution - bring it on. The population once voted to repeal it, won't put up with the shenanigans of the Greens in the Senate to block it....and no, they won't be scared to go back to the population to endorse their wishes.

This hung Fed Parliament, and all the squirrelly compromises extracted by the loony left shall be a mere aberration, looking back in 10 years time.

...oh, and I'm a little old granny from Box Hill.

I'm sure it's "DIFFERENT" this timne... but somehow, this post and the complaints remind me of somehting somebody said soetime

"Never ever ever"

Anyone know what it means, it's driving me crazy ?

Julia gillard saying in aug 2010 "there will be no carbon tax under the government i lead" demonstrates she is a liar. Puts into doubt anything or her government says. They say the economy is going ok. Well maybe she is lying about that as well. She has no concern for democracy only her socialist policies. It why her and socialist brown get on so well.

Its ok when china owns australian soil and land and tells brown and his greenies to **** themselves there wil be nothing you can do as the chinese will get first spoils and the rest can pay double price. Glad i dont have children.
