Question - how do you react when someone is nasty/rude?
Unless I'm in a really bad emotional state, my reaction is usually an awe and fascination as if I'm watching a show.

Doesnt happen much. 6 foot 5 and 105kg helps.
I come with the opposite spirit. It usually silences the perpatraitor of rudeness.
If I see someone being bullied, well thats like a red flag to a bull
Oh yes - older people are very often the worst ... not sure whether they think they are entitled to because they are old ...
But Colin, you don't look that BIG...
Is it just me - or does them seem to be an increase in general nastiness occurring in recent years ... and why?
But how can we determine that people are getting very nasty today as opposed to x years ago. Who really knows, anyone keeping tabs on this?
We form an opinion by our experience and it will vary. More important is how you deal with certain behaviour, there will always be someone that pisses you off, but will you bite, how you manage this will possibly make the difference

I think I'm really lucky to live in Australia. I don't know whether the future will be as good though.
It's not just you. Definitely a general increase. I don't know why. Examples: Australia Day, some kid screaming a string of expletives at a bottle-o attendant. No idea what happened but it pretty extreme. Late last year I was walking in City Arcade where a person was abusing a barista. The language was very unacceptable to be used in public. That attitude doesn't actually get you anywhere.
In Perth, a cyclist got cut off so he chased down the car, damaged the car and abused the driver. The driver drove down the road, did a u-turn through a red light and ran the cyclist over. The police arrested the driver on the spot while people worked to rescue the cyclist from under the car.
Lots of anger and nastiness around. Lots of situations that could be handled a lot better. What's driving it? No idea.
Depends on which cycle in x years ago you are talking about.
In more recent times past, and for Anglo societies, the Church had more relevance, than in current times.
Right or wrong, that Church, provided a unifying structure.
Turn a blind eye and keep on smiling, responding just backfires.Question - how do you react when someone is nasty/rude?
Doesn?t help at all when the perpetrator is a woman.Doesnt happen much. 6 foot 5 and 105kg helps.
