Do you know anyone like this

If she believed that property was going to crash why would she keep a -ive geared property? She doesn't make any sense.
Maybe she is just very insecure, I know I get verbal diarrhea when I am nervous and couple that with being shy it can make you sound like an idiot :eek:

Cut her some slack the poor thing, lol.

I think the 1 property is her spin on diversification.... ;)
The other is buy blue chip shares by the bucket load at 6% yield, I don't dabble in shares, however 6% is not that attractive to me.

Or alternatively she doesn't have the ability to read people's body language.

Charity begins at home so let us know how she gets on when you invite her over to your place.

No invite to my house, I don't believe I need to do this, life is too short to spend time in the company of people you don't particularly like:)

Mr luce.rocks is a bit like this but he's a lovely guy. He's just a bit too eager to impress, for whatever reason. Once you get to know him though, and he doesn't feel the need to prove himself, he's got the biggest heart and isn't at all the kind of person you might think based on first impressions. Maybe give your neighbour the benefit of the doubt?

MTR,

I have couple of friends that i can put in same category as your neighbor. My friends are in well known franchise business and every time we see them they go on and on about how successful their business is and how many more franchises they want to buy and all.. when i ask direct questions about profit $$$$$. they try and steer away from conversation!

Over the period, we went from good friends to Hi-bye friends. as you said, life is too short to educate/make them realize.

As you know, we own few assets, but only like minded investors know about it... not any of friends or close relatives..

As handyandy said in his post, i don't want our friends to advise on what we should spent our money on. especially they spent money on things that are not useful to them.

I need to socialise my pup so if you want to meet up occasionally after this month (2nd immunisation) with a foster pup I'd be happy to. You can do all the talking. :p

I have a mate who is the king of the "subliminal brag".

Says stuff like;

"Oh god, my ANZ shares just lost $20k overnight, can you believe the luck?"

Or;

"Had a blow-out on the Beemer last week; the bloody tyres are $800 each!"

Or;

"Looking at buying a new tv; can you believe how expensive them 60" HD 3D LCD tv's are? - over $3k for the cheapies."

And so forth.

I just smile, nod and switch off. I thought everyone does that, no?

No need to most of the time because they don't ever get invited along.

It's only when it's family (fortunately don't have this problem) or you're stuck with them at work that you'd do that.

Then the response is, "ok... ok... ok..." making very sure they detect that look of disinterest :D.

Double Diamond earner

No invite to my house, I don't believe I need to do this, life is too short to spend time in the company of people you don't particularly like:)

Try some reverse psychology.

Grab a white board and marker, knock on their door, walk in and start a spiel on how they can become an Amway Double Diamond earner if they can hold 12 legs for 6 months!

Guarantee they won't invite you to anything!:D

You should live with us poor people. We have nothing to brag about financially. My neighbour builds kitchens and I'm a shift worker. We just tell fishing stories.

love fishing stories
better than GreatIAm stories
was a bloke in the NT, in a pub, telling fishing stories, best night out, belief was optional, stories were great
tired of being told, "you're too young to be retired, what do you really do?" in pubs in NT listening to fishing stories

Oh the humble brag...

I don't know why the grass is so long on my block of land. I just have too much grass to mow.

...or, I'm only getting paid half of what I used to earn but it's less stressful and less hours. $200,000 a year isn't too bad I guess.

Drop puppy at my house. Maybe he can wear out my kids. Nothing else seems to.

OK, Will be there about 3.30. My kids are complaining they are worn out from him too. I must warn you he's only 50% toilet Trained. I'm not sure if its a boy thing to be able to make 3 little puddles in 15 minutes. He's been chewing on a pigs ear in between naps and 0 puddles, sick or other nasty surprises today so we must be making progress. Sorry for going off-topic on puppy discussion MTR!
