Dog Lovers

That's great Spades - looks like it was Harvey's lucky day! He'll make a great dog if you're on the road and need some company - the right size and robust enough to handle it.

Yeah have rescued a few in the past off death row..So Harvey's breaking out of prison soon enough:p...My only concern he doesn't poop/pee in the car and at home.Though time will fix that.Might change is name to Harley?Harvey/Harley not much diff

There are a lot of dogs needing homes out here in Parkes, too. Both of my dogs I just took. The beautiful kelpie-doberman-rottwheiler I took from the neighbour 'cause he kept him in a cage and never let him out. He cried a lot - it was heartbreaking. I started walking him and then just kept him.
A few months ago I went up to the pound and there was a funny little poodle cross cocker spaniel sitting petrified in a cage outside so I took her out and brought her home when no-one was there. She;s such a little cutie.
Have paid big bucks to get other dogs out before so felt justified.
Lots of dogs are used for pigging around here and don't have very good lives. They aren't socialised and are treated rough. As you said, it's the owners who turn them into monsters.
Staffies can be really lovely.
Princie - the big dog - is one of the most gentle and dignified dogs I've ever met (though very demanding when it comes to walks).

Good stuff Wattle!...Some owners are such douchbags to there animals, they should be in cage!

Can't go wrong with a rescued dog, they appreciate it and aren't stupid.

Unconditional love, more than i can say for some humans i've come across.

Animal lovers are the best.

Keep up the good work Wattle! :)

Great to hear you've decided to adopted a needed dog ... both my dogs have come from rescue pets ... the first was Mushka, a Keeshond Shepherd Cross and, despite being very timid from abuse when we first got her, she had the most beautiful personality and an elegant lady. Passed away last year.

The we got Spot as a puppy. A two speed chap (stop and flat out) of indeterminate breed but the vet thinks he's Kelpie, Border, Retriever cross. He is such a "boy" when it comes to swimming in the dam, chasing birds, destroying gumboots and just loving life.

On the subject of dogs, our pup (she is now close to 9 years old), only til recently, she can't seem to hold her pee..

She has always been well taught and always do her business outside.
Only til recently we are finding bits and pieces of her pee everywhere in the house, is this signs of old age?

Hey LoneWolf,

Maybe she's pee'd off with that hat on her head :p

Seriously though,it maybe due to old age.

Incontinence, stress? She doen't look happy in that pic.

What breed is she?Or mixed breed?

Love the photo of the Weimaraner, I was really keen to get one or a Hungarian vizsla, but we're now keen on the German short haired pointer.. Problem is they're rarely show up at the rspca.. May settle on a rescue collie instead :)

We have a GSP and he has a beautiful temperament.

She might have a urinary tract infection - or even some kidney problem - or perhaps diabetes. I'd be getting her down to the vet for a check out.

Sadly dogs usually don't show symptoms of disease until it's to late - we had to put Mushka down for a massive liver cancer ... her only symptom was that she was "slowing down a bit"

This is really concerning, I will take her over the weekend to check it out

And spades, our pup loves the hat

This guy is pretty special, loves watching hours of property searching online! I think he also wants to develop

Our cat died unexpectedly about a month ago. My 20yo son was absolutely devastated.

He was very particular about how he was buried - ensuring no dirt touched him and then asked about the type of headstone we are getting. He's filled the grave up with dirt a few times when it has sunk down.

I suggested maybe with think about a new dog a couple of weeks ago and the reply was 'What is wrong with you!?!' guessing too soon...

Harvey now named Harley, was well behaved and respondent to commands.

He didn't know what was going on when i was traveling to work, maybe thought he was going back to prison lol.

A bit of a pain in the 1st couple of jobs and glad i took one of those balls you put food in.

Anyhow soon settled there after and took him for a walk after the shift,a park near my last job.

Got home and gave him some treats for being a good dog.

Now asleep,round one over :)
